Our Mission
To support higher education information communications technology professionals in contributing to the achievement of the strategic mission of their institution.
Introducing ACUTA
ACUTA, the Association for Information Communications Technology Professionals in Higher Education, is an international non-profit educational association serving colleges and universities. ACUTA represents over 1700 individuals at nearly 800 institutions of higher education with members ranging from small schools and community colleges to the 50 largest U.S. institutions representing diverse Carnegie classifications in all 50 states, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. ACUTA also has Corporate Affiliate members, representing all categories of communications technology vendors who serve the college/university market.
Membership Categories
Institutional membership is restricted to an accredited college or university and represented by the full-time employee who has the primary responsibility for the control or direction of communications technologies services and budget. These members are typically Director level or higher, and are responsible for data, video communications, and networks in addition to traditional telephony. Membership is based on the number of students enrolled in a degree program as indicated in the Higher Education Directory.
Corporate Affiliate members include producers of hardware and software products for communication network infrastructures, providers of voice/data/video services and their associated support technologies, and consultants specializing in the training, evaluation, acquisition and management of these services in a campus environment.
Associate membership is available to individuals who are involved in any phase of communications technologies services at institutions that do not qualify for institutional membership, such as hospitals; federal, provincial, or state agencies; research institutions; college consortia; or other associations of college and university administrators which act directly on behalf of college and university telecommunications services and interest.
Emeritus membership is for retired individuals who have held membership in ACUTA and are no longer receiving a salary from the field of communications and information technology.
